When The Blood Boils
Quand Le Sang Bout
The story
Through a rare immersion in an Andean community, the film explores what it really means to "resolve a conflict" in a society where violence is neither hidden nor denied, but ritualized, regulated, and followed by public reconciliation. Takanakuy is not a spectacle: it is a social language, a way of preserving collective balance. Following Simon's path, the narrative shifts from the fight itself to its invisible consequences: acceptance by the group, inner transformation, and the symbolic weight of a gesture that one only performs once in a lifetime. The film then questions our Western view of justice, forgiveness, and reparation, and poses a central question: what remains when we agree to confront our fears head-on, without detours or staging?
