Privacy

24Talkies helps you find Indian-language films in theatres and on streaming. We built it to need as little about you as possible: no sign-up, no ads that track you, and we never sell your data. This page explains exactly what the app and this website collect.

What stays on your phone

Your Watchlist, your country and language, your services, and your ZIP or postal code are kept only on your phone. If you use your location, the app turns it into a place about 1 km wide, on the phone, and uses it to find cinemas near you. Your location is not sent to us.

What we collect, and why

• A random install ID. Made when you first open the app (it isn't your Apple ID or an advertising ID). The first 8 characters are your Support ID in Settings, so we can help you if you write to us. Deleting the app deletes it.
• Usage data (you can turn this off). Which screens and films are opened, what you search for, and which ticket or streaming buttons are tapped, with your country, language and app version. It tells us what to improve. Turn it off any time in Settings → Share usage data. Kept up to 13 months.
• Crash and freeze reports (same switch). The phone model, iOS version and what the app was doing, so we can fix bugs. Kept 90 days.
• Alerts. If you allow notifications, we keep your phone's notification address from Apple, your country, language and time zone, and which films are on your Watchlist, so we can tell you when tickets open or a film starts streaming. Turning notifications off deletes this.
• Things you choose to send. A release date you report, or “I can watch it here”, is kept with your install ID, and with a scrambled form of your internet address that can't be turned back into it, to stop fake reports. When you decide with friends, the name you type is shown to the friends in that room; rooms close after 12 hours.

This website

The website sets two cookies: your country and language, and the place you chose for showtimes (rounded to about 1 km). It remembers your recent searches and places in your browser only. It has no analytics or advertising trackers. A ZIP code or city you type is looked up with a map service to find where it is.

Who else is involved

• Companies that host our app and website, deliver notifications and supply film details and trailers. They handle data only to provide those services to us.
• When you tap to book or watch, you go to that site or app (a cinema, a ticket site, a streaming service, a map…) and its own privacy policy applies. A booking link may include your ZIP code so the site opens near you.
• Sponsored items are labelled “Sponsored”. We count views and taps ourselves; advertisers get no data about you.

Children

24Talkies is not directed at children under 13.

Your choices

• Turn off Share usage data in Settings, or turn off notifications.
• Delete the app to remove everything kept on your phone.
• To see or delete anything else we hold, email us with your Support ID (Settings in the app).
